Woman Who Survived Hollywood Shooting Spree Speaks Out

A woman who survived after a man shot at passing cars in Hollywood over the weekend is speaking out.

It was Saturday morning around 10 a.m. when police say 40-year-old Carl Washington went on a shooting spree in the area of Garfield Street and 64th Avenue, hitting at least five cars.

Victims tried to duck and speed past him once they realized what was happening. Police arrested Washington after one of the victims found an officer blocks away.

"I'm lucky, I'm alive, I'm not hurt any part of my body," the victim, who didn't want to be identified, told NBC 6 Tuesday.

Neighbors said the man fired more than 20 shots. The mother of two said Washington pointed a rifle at her and pulled the trigger over and over.

"When I saw him shoot me in my window, I try to drove really fast to see a police," she said.

Three bullets hit her car, one shattering the glass. One driver was shot in the back of the head and crashed his car. That driver remains in critical condition.

"I'm scared for me, for my family, for the neighborhood, for everybody," the woman said. "It's danger to have people around you shooting innocent people."

Washington has been charged with five counts of attempted murder. It's unknown if he's hired an attorney.
