13-Year-Old Driver Arrested After Woman and Child Struck Car in Miami Beach Hit-and-Run

A 13-year-old driver has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash that injured a woman and child in Miami Beach, police said Monday.

Two people were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital following the potentially fatal hit and run crash that happened Sunday afternoon at 77th Street and Dickens Avenue.

Police say the driver responsible for the incident was driving a black Cadillac. According to police, the driver took off instead of stopping to help the woman and child.

Police were able to track down the driver two blocks away at 7th Street and Carlyle Avenue.

According to an arrest report, the 13-year-old driver took his step-father's car without permission. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.

AT a court hearing Monday, the teen was placed on house arrest and will only be allowed to go to school, church or his lawyer's office.

NBC 6 has learned that the victims are recovering in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
