Worker Struck in Head By Metal Rod at Port Everglades

A worker was hospitalized after he was hit in the head with a metal rod aboard a ship at Port Everglades Friday, officials said.

The 48-year-old man was working on a cargo ship when he was struck just after 2 p.m., Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials said.

Footage showed the man being taken off the ship on a stretcher by a fire rescue ladder truck. The man was taken to Broward General in serious condition, officials said.

No other information was immediately known.
