Young Woman Shot and Killed in Front of Little Havana Home: Police

Police are still looking for the shooter.

Police are investigating after a young woman was shot and killed in front of a Little Havana home.

Viveka Correa, 19, was talking to a friend outside a home at 150 NW 17th Court when she was suddenly shot and killed by an unknown person, Miami Police said.

Neighbors said they heard several gunshots. One of Correa's neighbors, Gladys Cardena, ran out of the house and saw her daughter take her finals breaths.

"It was as if she was holding onto life," Cardena said in Spanish.

A cousin told NBC 6 via Twitter that Correa's funeral will be held Tuesday.

Officials said no suspect has been named in the case and a motive is unknown. Investigators urge anyone with information to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS(8477).
