Your Guide to ‘March For Our Lives' Events in South Florida

Everything you need to know if you're attending one of the marches in South Florida

When a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 17 students and educators were killed in the rampage. The horrific event left the South Florida community shocked and heartbroken. But amid the anguish and pain of losing 17 lives in the Parkland shooting, student survivors of the tragedy have taken a stand against the gun violence that robbed their beloved peers and teachers of their lives. The #NeverAgain movement was born, and now, students across the country are fighting for tighter gun control laws and regulations in the aftermath of the shooting.

On March 24, the student-led movement will protest gun violence during the massive “March for Our Lives” event. During the protest, kids and families “will take to the streets to demand their lives and safety become a priority.” The main protest will take place in Washington, D.C., but more than 800 sister marches are planned throughout the nation. For those not going to the march in D.C., the march in Parkland – which takes place at Pine Trails Park – holds symbolic significance, as it has been the site of vigils, memorials and rallies.

Here is what you need to know if you plan on attending one of the local marches in South Florida, as well as additional information to keep in mind if you’re going to the march in Parkland.
