The 18-year-old brother of a Parkland school shooting suspect says he just wants to finish high school and live his life when he moves to Virginia to serve his probation for trespassing.
Zachary Cruz spoke Sunday while preparing to drive with his two dogs to Staunton, Virginia. His attorney says the move will give Cruz a chance to live a relatively normal life.
He said he used to fight with Nikolas Cruz when they were younger, but said they made amends as they grew older and accepted each other's differences. He said his brother is "a very fragile person."
The teen says he plans to start an anti-bullying campaign because he believes that contributed to his brother's actions.
A judge on Friday approved Zachary Cruz's move, however he will remain under strict surveillance after he was placed on probabtion for trespassing on the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where his brother is accused of killing 17 people on Feb. 14.
Zachary Cruz will earn $13 an hour working for Nexus Services, a pro bono legal organization who filed a lawsuit on his behalf in the trespassing case. He can not have any weapons, ammunition, alcohol or drugs during his probation.
