A runoff will be held for a seat on Miami-Dade County Commission's District 5 between Zoraida Barreiro and Eileen Higgins after a special election produced no clear winner.
Barreiro, a Cuban healthcare worker based in Little Havana, received 33.08 percent of the vote, while Higgins, a business owner who operates a firm aimed to help local entrepreneurs, received 34.94 percent of the vote, according to Miami-Dade County Elections.
Voter turnout was 12.68 percent. The runoff will be held on June 19.
The winner will represent a district that covers Little Havana, South Beach and part of downtown Miami.
