After More Than a Month, Miami Family Desperate to Find Missing Teen

A Miami family held a vigil Friday for their daughter whose now been missing for more than a month.

"I can't explain it," Melissa Rubio's mother Lilian Lopez said. "There is no words to explain what I'm going through."

Melissa Rubio, 15, was last seen March 7th at her home at 4450 Northwest Third Street in Miami-Dade. An agonizing 34 days.

"She was supposed to take the school bus at that time but she never made it even to the school," Lopez said. "When I'm alone is when I'm crying... so many things going through my head."

Joining the family at the vigil Friday was Carlos Aguilar, whose own son Christian went missing back in 2012 and was later found dead. He now helps families experiencing what he's felt.

"We need everyone from the community helping us... if anybody sees something, or knows something," Lopez pleaded.

Last month, Miami Police helped hand out flyers in hopes of finding Melissa, who they say suffers from depression.

She was last seen wearing a grey sweater and dark grey sweat pants. And while police say they have no evidence to suspect foul play at this time, Melissa's family desperately wants their their child back home.

"We need her, we need her back... she's only 15, she's only a child," Lopez said.

Miami Police said their investigators have been following leads, but so far, they've come up empty-handed.

Anyone with information that could help bring Melissa home with her family is asked to call Miami Police at 305-603-6310.
