‘Allegations Are False': Attorney Accused of Sex With Inmate

A South Florida attorney accused of having sex with one of her clients in a jail interview room was back in court Thursday where she denied the allegations.

Jessica Mishali David, 35, was banned from Broward Sheriff's Office property last month after authorities said she was spotted having sex with 26-year-old inmate Ysreal Granda at the main jail.

"Those allegations are false, there is no evidence of those allegations whatsoever," she said.

The ban was lifted after an emergency hearing but Mishali David can only meet with her client behind a window now. In court Thursday, she argued they can't have meaningful contact or prepare paperwork properly before trial.

The judge disagreed.

"What the set up looks like to me is how it was in the old days, in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s, that's the only way lawyers communicated with their clients," Judge Ilona Holmes said.

Mishali David also said her client's safety is in jeopardy.

Mr. Granda is not safe in the custody of the Broward County Jail because of the corruption in BSO," she said.

The defense attorney also believes the accusations that recently surfaced have nothing to do with her and everything to do with her client.

"I am however his attorney, what he knows I know and I'm also the one fighting for him, helping him, protecting him and to separate us is to do great harm to Mr. Granda," she said.
