Alligator Alley Remains Open As Officials Monitor Wildfire in Broward County

As conditions at night kept a wildfire in Western Broward County under control, officials are monitoring the situation closely Tuesday morning in hopes it will keep from spreading.

Alligator Alley reopened Monday night after being shutdown in both directions as crews battled a wildfire just north of mile marker 41.

Over 50 miles of the roadway connecting the east and west coast of Florida from near U.S. 27 in Broward County all the way into Collier County - were blocked as smoke spread in the area.

Officials say they will continue to monitor the situation and are urging drivers to be careful.
