Amazon Delivery Driver Carjacked at Gunpoint in Miami Gardens

Police are investigating an armed carjacking of an Amazon delivery truck driver in Miami Gardens Wednesday.

The carjacking happened in the area of Northwest 156th Street and 15th Avenue when the driver spotted a car stopped in the middle of the road with the hood up and stopped to see if the occupants needed help, Miami Gardens Police said.

As the driver was speaking with one of the occupants, another suspect approached pointing a firearm at the driver. The armed suspect stole the truck while the other suspect fled in the car that had its hood up.

"If you are traveling alone, I would suggest that if you see someone in distress, dial 911 and request police assistance for that individual. I would not advise them to assist on their own," said Officer Doretha Hall with MGPD.

The delivery truck was later found in North Miami but police didn't say what was taken from inside. No one was injured.

Police described the suspects as African American males, between 40 and 50 years old. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
