American Heart Association Hosting Healthy Cooking Class With Broward Nonprofit

The American Heart Association is hosting a free, interactive cooking class to help South Florida families improve their lives through healthy eating.

The Healthy Families Cooking Class is an "interactive family-friendly event that engages and inspires families to proactively take charge of their health by providing access to heart-healthy food, cooking instruction, and nutritional education," AHA said in a statement.

The kick-off event will be held Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County, Inc., located at 5546 W Oakland Park Blvd Ste 201 in Lauderhill.

HMHB Broward picked numerous families to participate in the event.

AHA said participants can also receive food samples, meal kits, grocery gift cards and cooking supplies in addition to the classes.

"This event provides access to heart healthy food, cooking instruction, and nutritional education to families and single parents in Broward County," AHA said in a statement. "Health isn't just about behavior. It's also about place: where you live, work, learn, play and pray - and all the many complex social factors within those locations which greatly impact health."
