Animal remains, "voodoo" candles and a bloody knife are among the items seen in photographs from the home of a Hollywood man accused of stabbing a puppy and leaving it to die in a suitcase, according to new documents exclusively obtained by NBC 6.
The photos show what Hollywood Police investigators found inside the home of 31-year-old Brendan Evans, who is facing multiple animal cruelty charges in the killing of Ollie the pit bull.
Evans was arrested in November, a month after police say he stabbed Ollie and stuffed him into the suitcase. Ollie died at an animal hospital two days after he was discovered.
Evans, who lived right down the street from where Ollie was found, denied ever seeing the dog or the suitcase, police said. But the new photos show Evans taking a selfie in a mirror with what appears to be the same suitcase, which police said they found his DNA on.
The photos give the first look into Evans' apartment and provide disturbing images that were described in the arrest report.
When officers executed a search warrant on the apartment, they found dismembered animals in the freezer and a shrine with a frying pan containing suspected blood and fur, the report said. In a drawer, officers found an apparent animal jaw, the report said.
Investigators also photographed knives that had suspected blood and fur on them, along with apparent blood in the bathroom, the report said.

Police said Evans told them he had the right to kill animals in the name of voodoo, the report said. Several handwritten notes were found in the apartment, including some that reference demonic figures, police said.
"Make the entire pit bull investigation go away. Return all curses placed on Brendan to their sender," one note read, according to the report.
Suspected animal teeth that were found in Evans' wallet were later identified by a vet as K-9 teeth, the report said.
A necropsy said Ollie died from shock attributed to his brutal injuries that were caused by a sharp object.
Evans remained behind bars Thursday, Broward jail records showed. His attorney last month said he has been plagued by mental illness.
Evans was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office in 2012 for domestic battery and he is currently on probation for a bank robbery in Hernando County.
The killing of Ollie drew national attention as the reward in the case reached $40,000. One vet who tried to help Ollie called it "probably one of the worst abuse cases I've ever seen."
