Animals Are Stars At Key West's Fantasy Fest Pet Masquerade

Instead of the traditional goblins and ghouls, Key West was invaded with costumed cats, dogs, and other animals for Wednesday night’s Fantasy Fest Pet Masquerade.

The event happened at the Truman Waterfront Amphitheater and was a part of the 40th annual Fantasy Fest.

Spectators cheered for the more than 40 entries of costumed pets and costume pet-and-person duos. Pets and pet owners also performed lighthearted dance numbers.

The furry festivities also featured a costume contest with entries like “The Tortoise and Hare,” which featured a tortoise carrying a toy rabbit on top of its shell, a pug dog in a tutu and tiara, a taco dog and characters from movies like “Toy Story.”

Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Lower Keys Friends of Animals.
