Police have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Cutler Bay earlier this month.
Lazaro DeJesus Ferreiro, 19, was arrested Monday on a second-degree murder charge in the August 2 killing of Roberto Javier Morga Jr., police said.
Morga Jr. was found shot to death in the roadway in front of Cutler Ridge Park on Southwest 200th Street, Miami-Dade Police said.
According to an arrest report, a witness who was at the scene identified Ferreiro as the gunman, saying she knew him as a "local rapper."
Ferreiro denied any involvement in the shooting after he was taken into custody, the report said. The motive behind the shooting was unknown.
"I know that my brother deserves justice because c'mon now. He was only 16 years old," Jennifer Morga told NBC 6 after the killing. "He barely had just started his life. It's not fair for someone to just take a kid's life."
Ferreiro was being held without bond Tuesday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
