Arrest Made Of Hialeah Man For Allegedly Killing, Dismembering Victim

What to Know

  • A Hialeah man is behind bars after police say he allegedly killed another man and dismembering the body near train tracks in the city.

Police in Hialeah arrested a 40-year-old man who allegedly killed an acquaintance before dismembering the body and leaving it near train tracks in the city.

Detectives arrested William Martinez on two charges, including second degree murder, in the case. Officials say that Martinez got into a heated argument in the 60-year-old victim before killing him and attempting to dispose of the body.

Martinez allegedly left the victim’s dismembered body near train tracks located off Palm Avenue in Hialeah. An investigation led police back to Martinez’s home that he shares with his mother off West 22nd Street.

Cameras captured a man who Hialeah Police say is Martinez standing by the railroad tracks with what appears to be a bag.

Martinez is being held on no bond for the murder charge after being booked into jail Thursday morning. It's unknown if he's hired an attorney.

"Up to now the investigation appears that this is the result of a heated argument between two otherwise friends," Hialeah Police spokesman Carl Zogby said. "The argument happened inside the apartment, the suspect beat the victim to death and then didn't know what to do with the body."
