Arrests Made After Police Find Car From Suspected Lauderhill Carjacking

Police confirmed the arrest of at least one person in a vehicle that was involved in a carjacking in Lauderhill early Friday.

After finding a silver SUV near the 2300 block of NW 23rd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, police attempted to stop the vehicle before it fled the scene. A chase began and led officers into Pompano Beach, where the driver fled on foot.

He was later arrested after a short chase. All others inside the vehicle cooperated with police and were not charged.

The car's owner told police he picked up a man on State Road 7 and drove him to an ATM at the Bright Star Credit Union, where the car was stolen. The victim said he tried to stop the car from being taken, but fell to the ground and was dragged along the car.

That victim sustained head injuries and was transported to Broward General Hospital.
