Asbestos Concern Closes Planetarium

Somewhere, a Pink Floyd-loving stoner weeps

If you were planning on going to that "Dark Side of the Moon" laser light show tonight, better make other plans.

The Miami Science Museum closed its doors today after D.E.R.M. found a small amount of asbestos in a test sample from a mechanical room in the planetarium, a release from the museum stated. As a precaution, the rest of the museum has been closed until further tests are run.

Museum officials say they don't believe asbestos is present in any other areas, as most of the museum was renovated in 1991, however, "the health of our visitors and employees is of utmost importance,"  and we will work diligently with Miami Dade County to fully assess and resolve the issue before the planetarium and museum re-open to the public."
