A driver who led police on a wild chase from Miami Beach to Little Havana was booked into jail on a slew of charges Saturday, authorities said.
Jose Calleja, 29, is facing charges including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault and battery on an officer.
He remained behind bars on a warrant case Sunday, Miami-Dade jail records showed. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.
Police said the chase started during a traffic stop near 71st Street and Collins Avenue. Calleja sped off and nearly plowed into officers, who were on foot, police said.
The chase ended near Southwest 7th Street and 19th Avenue in Little Havana. Calleja told officers he didn't stop because he had a suspended license, police said.
