Authorities have identified a north Florida jail inmate who died at a hospital.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says an autopsy has been performed on the inmate, 31-year-old Thomas Joseph Giallanza. The autopsy results have not been released.
The Ocala Star-Banner reports that Marion County Sheriff's Office notified FDLE after an incident at the jail Monday morning. Giallanza was taken from the jail to the hospital, where he died.
No additional information was released.
Giallanza was arrested Oct. 20 in Ocala for allegedly trying to steal batteries from a Wal-Mart. Jail records also show Giallanza was arrested multiple times in 2013 and 2014 for theft, drugs and other charges.
