Authorities Trying to Identify Man Found Dead on Beach in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea

Authorities are hoping the public can help them identify a man who was found dead on the beach in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea earlier this month.

Broward Sheriff's Office officials released a sketch Friday of the man whose body was discovered the morning of June 22 on the beach near Commercial Boulevard just south of the pier, next to a beach chair and beach mat.

Beachgoers had noticed the man lying on the beach had not been moving for a prolonged period of time and called 911, and deputies responded and found that the man was dead.

Homicide detectives are investigating the man's death but don't believe it was suspicious. The man didn't have a license or any other type of identifying document in his wallet, officials said.

Officials said the man is between 40 and 55 years old and about 5-foot-9. He was wearing a black sweater, black pants with a white stripe down the side of the leg, black shoes and a flannel jacket.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch is asked to contact BSO at 954-321-4210.
