Welcome, Grace! New Baby Gorilla Born at Disney's Animal Kingdom

What to Know

  • Grace was born from mother Kashata and father Gino, who were selected to breed as part of a survival plan done to ensure responsibility.

The latest baby Western Lowland gorilla came into the world this week right here in the Sunshine State as Grace joined the population at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Named “Grace”, the baby gorilla was born Wednesday at the attraction outside of Orlando and named after a sanctuary in the African nation of Congo – where officials from Animal Kingdom have spent over a decade helping raise baby gorillas orphaned by poaching.

Grace was born from mother Kashata and father Gino, who were selected to breed as part of a survival plan done to ensure responsible breeding of critically endangered animals.

Guests can see Grace, her parents and the rest of the gorillas in action at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
