Bare-All Body Scanners Coming to Fort Lauderdale Airport

TSA debuts revealing machines at another SoFla airport

The revealing airport body scanners that caused one TSA worker in Miami to flip his lid and attack a coworker earlier this month are getting placed in another South Florida airport.

The TSA will debut the machines at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Wednesday, where they'll demonstrate to the media how much passengers will be revealing in screenings.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood will be the fourth airport in Florida and 27th in the nation to use the Advanced Imaging Technology screeners.

The "virtual strip search" machines, as they were called when they debuted last year, screen passengers for weapons and explosives, allowing TSA workers an Up close and personal look at anyone who walks through.

The TSA has ensured the public that the workers viewing the machines will be in some secluded area, away from the passengers so they won't be able to identify anyone. The images are also immediately deleted after they've been viewed and passed by a screener.

And the TSA says that going through the machines will be optional all passengers.

Going through the machine apparently wasn't optional for one TSA worker at Miami International Airport who was arrested after a scanner training session turned ugly.

Rolando Negrin was busted for assault after he attacked one of his fellow Transportation Security Administration workers who had been making fun of Negrin's penis, which was revealed for all coworkers to see, thanks to the body scanner.

The harassment over Negrin's "small package" boiled over, and he snapped and beat his supervisor with a police baton.

Negrin was taken off duty while the incident was investigated.
