Ben Carson Book Tour Stops in South Florida

Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson made a stop in South Florida Thursday for his book tour.

"A More Perfect Union: What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties" is co-written with wife, Candy Carson.

Carson signed copies of his book and took questions about his lack of knowledge on U.S. and Cuba immigration policies.

"No one has ever talked with me about wet foot, dry foot. So there's no reason that I should have known about that, but I will be learning about new issues every single day," Carson said.

He said relations with Cuba could be good if America maintains leverage in negotiations with the Castro Regime.

Regarding the embargo against Cuba, "I would not lift the embargo until we get some real concessions."

Not only is Carson hitting the book circuit, his radio commercial is hitting the airwaves; a 60-second rap ad peppered with his inspirational quotes.

Hundreds of Carson fans showed up at two South Florida book stores Thursday to get a glimpse at the GOP front runner.

Natasha Palacios brought her homeschool class to see him, "He was chief of a hospital. If he can operate on a child's brain, I think he can do something for this country."

Carson also fielded questions about a CNN report casting doubt that he was a rambunctious kid. The cable network was unable to corroborate four specific stories Carson has told about him being a violent child.

"People have been digging every place I have ever lived. They're so desperate. They're looking for a scandal, it's almost comical. What they should be concentrating on is how are we going to solve the problems we have," Carson said.

Carson's South Florida stop is the conclusion of a multi-city book tour for the GOP frontrunner.

According to a recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Carson's 29 percent is followed by Donald Trump at 23 percent, Marco Rubio at 11 percent, Ted Cruz at 10 percent and Jeb Bush at 8 percent.

At 29 percent, Carson's percentage is the highest any GOP candidate has obtained so far in the survey.
