Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Two Cars on Deerfield Beach Road, One Driver Fled

One of the cars stayed at the scene at 4800 North Dixie Highway, while the other fled, authorities said.

A bicyclist in Deerfield Beach was fatally struck by two cars on Friday morning, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

One of the cars stayed at the scene at 4800 North Dixie Highway, while the other fled, authorities said.

Authorities said that the first car that hit 53-year-old Jean Hubert Pierre stayed at the scene and the driver called 911, but as she tried to flag down other motorists to help, another car hit the man and fled.

The man was taken to North Broward Hospital and died of his injuries.

He was on his way to work at a Precast Specialties, cement factory in the area. He was from Haiti and had been working at the factory for two months.

"Unfortunately, we lost an employee by the continuous accidents on the roads and it's very saddening to hear that happened to him," said Vernita Williams, a factory spokeswoman.
