Newly released surveillance video shows a woman being dragged as she tried to prevent a bicyclist from stealing her purse in Brickell.
The robbery happened at around 4:20 a.m. on July 6. A woman was walking north on South Miami Avenue from SW 8th Street when she was approached by a man riding a Citi bicycle, according to the Miami Police Department.
In the newly released surveillance video, the bicyclist snatches her purse, and the woman falls and is dragged as she held onto her purse.
Mary Yasol said she didn't expect to be targeted in the heart of Brickell. She tried to negotiate with the robber, asking him to leave at least her phone and wallet so she could go home. He agreed.
In the video, the bicyclist searches through her purse before taking off with some cash and her wallet, which contained her ID and credit cards.
The suspect is described as a 25 to 35-year-old black male, with a slim build and stands approximately 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with black shorts.
