Bicyclists Hitting The Road From Coral Gables to Key West, Raising Money For HIV/AIDS Causes in Florida

Friday, hundreds will hit the road on their bicycles to continue raising money in the fight to find a cure for HIV and AIDS.

The two day, 165 mile SMART Ride – standing for Southern Most AIDS/HIV Ride – will start in Coral Gables on the campus of the University of Miami. After stopping for the night in Marathon, the bicyclists will continue into Key West on Saturday, concluding with a parade down Duval Street and ending at the city’s AIDS Memorial.

The event started in November 2003 and has raised over $7.3 million, making it the second largest AIDS bicycle ride in the country – with 100 percent of money raised gong to AIDS service organizations throughout the state.
