A blind dog was rescued by Miami Beach Marine Patrol after they found it swimming in the Biscayne Bay Monday morning.
Local Miami Beach residents spotted the small dog swimming near Di Lido Island, a residential neighborhood in Miami Beach, and attempted to rescue it but could not.
Frankie, the dog, is a mixed breed of Chihuahua and cocker spaniel.
Frankie is also blind, and officials say he was swimming in circles about 100 feet out into the bay. Officer Vicente Canete said the dog swam towards his boat when he was rescued.
"He seemed like in very good health, he didn't seem scared or anything like that, you know he seemed like he was doing a great job out there," Canete said.
The dog was reunited with his owners who were found after authorities found his microchip.

Frankie’s owner, Jeremiah Heffron, says the dog escaped when the front door was open as he and his wife were moving things.
“We’re very excited that he’s back and they found him and we’re very appreciative,” Heffron said.
