Police in coastal Alabama say a body that was recently found in a canal has been identified as a Jacksonville, Florida man.
Gulf Shores police said in a statement that the body of 48-year-old Jerry Wayne Hubbard was found Saturday in the Intracoastal Waterway.
Police say Hubbard was in Gulf Shores for a work project and went swimming in the canal late Friday night but never returned.
Investigators say they're awaiting the results of a toxicology test to determine whether alcohol factored into the man's death. Police say the test results should be available in roughly 90 days.
