An early morning shooting left one person dead near a prominent Miami-Dade high school Tuesday.
Police responded to the scene near Northwest 14th Street and 7th Avenue in Overtown around 4 a.m., where they found the body of a person inside of a parked car. The scene is near Booker T. Washington High School.
Officials said a passerby spotted the body of the 31-year-old man in the car and called 911.
Officers continue to investigate a possible motive behind the shooting and have not released the victim’s name.
"We are asking the community to please, if someone heard something or saw something, please come forward with any and all information so we can apprehend the person or persons responsible for this brutal crime," Miami Police Lt. Freddie Cruz said.
