The body of a 21-year-old FIU student was found in a canal in Palm Beach County, according to members of his family.
According to NBC affiliate WPTV, Garrison Faust was recovered on Christmas Day near 83rd Place North and Banyan Blvd. Officers do not suspect foul play in the case. It's unclear how he died.
Faust was a senior majoring in economics and was reported missing on Friday. He was visiting the area for the holidays and was a native of Floral Park, New York.
FIU released a statement on the death of the 21-year-old:
"We are sad to learn of the passing of Garrison Faust. He was an Economics major at FIU."
Friends of the FIU student shared how Faust had started up a box ball club on campus.
His friend Kevin Mantilla wrote that Faust was enthusiastic and a pleasure to be around. He added that the 21-year-old's energetic presence will always be remembered.
