A boil water notice was lifted for Hollywood residents Friday afternoon after crews repaired a ruptured water main that caused a large sinkhole filled with water to develop at South 28th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
The flooding has receded, but a stretch of South 28th Avenue remained blocked off following the rupture that happened Thursday.
Early Friday, officials said the pipe was repaired but the water flow wasn't back to normal. The repair work was finished before midday Friday, and Hollywood was working to fix a section of the road that had to be removed to repair the water main.

A precautionary boil water notice was issued for everyone who uses the City of Hollywood water system after the 24-inch water main broke because of a utility contractor working in the area, the city said in a news release.
The boil water notice had been issued for customers who receive water from Hollywood or two parts of the Broward County utility system. That included people in parts of Davie, Dania Beach, Pembroke Park, West Park, Miramar and Pembroke Pines.
Crews had been working to make repairs and to isolate the water main, leaving those residents closest to the damaged pipe without water while repairs were made.

The break caused a drop in water pressure throughout the system, and because of that the Hollywood Department of Public Utilities issued the boil water notice.
"I noticed the water pressure in the shower was kind of low so I thought well, maybe they had turned the water off or something like that but when I came out all the water was gushing down the street and garbage bags were floating down the street and I was like OMG this is crazy," resident James Dempsey said. "The water just sorta started rising and there was like no end to it, no stop to it."
At least one area business said the boil water order didn't have a huge impact.
"Everything else we do here is already boiled, the grits and oatmeal you already have to boil," said Casey Dixon, owner of J.P.'s Bagels. "We make our iced tea fresh anyways so for us, thank God, not that much."
The Broward County Public Schools said they were taking all necessary safety precautions, including providing bottled water to schools in Hollywood and turning off water fountains.
All water customers had been advised to use boiled or bottled water for tasks such as drinking, preparing food, making ice and washing dishes until further notice. Bring all water to a rolling boil, boil it for one minute and let it cool before using it, the city said.
