Bono's Bad Back Postpones Miami Show

Sun Life Concert delayed as U2 singer recovers from surgery

The much-awaited return of Bono and the boys from U2 to Miami will be delayed a little longer following the singer's emergency back operation in Germany last week.

The highly-anticipated Sun Life Stadium show, scheduled for July 9, has been postponed, according to a release from Live Nation.

Bono will have to undergo eight weeks of rehabilitation as he recuperates from the surgery on his spine in Munich this past Friday.

The 50-year-old Irish-born front man had suffered the injury to his back while practicing for the North American leg of the "360 Degree" world tour. He had a partial paralysis of his lower leg and severe compression of his sciatic nerve.

A number of other shows on the tour, 16 in all, were also postponed.

"Our biggest and I believe best tour has been interrupted and we're all devastated," said U@'s manager, Paul McGuinness. "For a performer who lives to be on stage, this is more than a blow. He feels robbed of the chance to do what he does best and feels like he has badly let down the band and their audience."

The new date for the Sun Life show will be announced on in the coming weeks.
