Boy, 6, Hospitalized After Nearly Drowning in Coconut Creek

A 6-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he nearly drowned in a pool in Coconut Creek Saturday, officials said.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. at the community pool at the Country Lakes Mobile Home Park at 6800 Northwest 39th Avenue, Coconut Creek Police said.

According to police, 6-year-old Chase Boyd, of Coral Springs, was attending a friend's birthday party with his family when he was found at the bottom of the pool. A witness pulled Boyd out and began to perform CPR on him.

Firefighters from Margate responded and airlifted Boyd to Broward General Hospital where he was in critical but stable condition late Saturday, officials said.

Officials haven't said what led up to the near drowning.
