Boy Shot in the Head with BB Gun in Oakland Park, Hospitalized: BSO

A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday afternoon after being struck in the head with a BB gun in Oakland Park.

Broward Sheriff officials responded to the incident located at a home on the 800 block of Northwest 39h Street.

Witnesses say the young boy and a friend were playing with an older brother's BB gun when one pointed it at the other and pulled the trigger.

Authorities say the boy was transported by ambulance to Broward Health Hospital. The boy was conscious and talking, officials say.

"He was playing with his friend, aimed it at his friend and shot him," said Shelton Jaques, the shooter's older brother.

Jaques added that he told his brother there is a big lesson to learn here, that you can't play with guns.

BSO investigators haven't said if anyone will be charged in the incident.
