A Boynton Beach man is behind bars after police say he punched a pet rabbit.
James Wertz was arrested late Friday and charged with animal cruelty and battery, according to Boynton Beach Police.
Authorities say Wertz also squeezed the rabbit, who survived but sustained very serious injuries.
Jail records show Wertz is being held without bond at the Main Detention Center in Palm Beach County. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
