Broward County Sprays for Mosquitoes

Broward County sprayed for mosquitoes over Southwest Ranches and parts of Davie.

July's record rainfall means a rise in mosquito activity in South Florida.

Broward County is fighting off the pesky bloodsuckers by spraying pesticide over Southwest Ranches and a portion of Davie.

"It doesn't matter what you do, you still get a bite," asid Emmy Pena, who was already bitten by mosquitoes. "For the last two day, wherever I go I've been getting bites."

Pena said bug repellent doesn't work on her.

Meanwhile, an airplane spraying insecticide flew over the areas early Wednesday morning, covering Griffing Road to the north, Sheridan street to the south, Southwest 130th Avenue to the east and U.S. 27 to the west.
