Broward Lawyer Facing Sexual Battery, Molestation Charges

A Broward lawyer is facing sexual battery and molestation charges following his arrest on federal child porn charges, authorities said Wednesday.

David Rothenberg, 47, was arrested Saturday at his home in Margate following an investigation by Margate Police, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, authorities said.

Rothenberg remained behind bars without bond Wednesday and it's unknown if he's hired an attorney. NBC 6 reached out to the Fort Lauderdale law firm where Rothenberg has worked for the past six months but hasn't received a response.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, authorities said Rothenberg was arrested after logging on to a "daddaughtersex" chat room where he tried to talk a woman into letting him have sex with her 13-year-old daughter. He also detailed to the woman how he had sexually exploited another underage girl and sent the woman a photo of the girl, the Sentinel reported.

The woman turned out to be an undercover officer.

Rothenberg has been charged with sexual battery of a victim under 12, lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under 12, lewd and lascivious battery of a victim over 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim over 12.

Police said he engaged in the acts for about two years.
