A manhunt was underway in Deerfield Beach Monday night after a deputy was assaulted, Broward Sheriff's Office said.
The incident happened at a plaza on 2009 Northeast 2nd Street. Around 8 p.m., the deputy was asked by the manager of Burger Fi to help remove an unruly customer from the restaurant. That's when the suspect got violent and fought with the deputy, BSO said.
The suspect was pepper-sprayed, but managed to escape on foot. The deputy was not hurt.
Police have issued a warrent for the suspect's arrest on charges of battery on a lw enforcement officer.
