“Grandma” Pinkie Prowler Not So Pretty

BSO is offering $1000 for thief who robbed "Grandma" of West Park

In an effort to lay their hands on the man who laid his hands on Ms. Pinkie, an elderly woman in West Park, police have released a sketch and offered a $1000 reward to anyone who has information.

Known affectionately in her neighborhood as "Grandma," Ms. Pinkie, 73, is the owner of a snack shop in her home, where everyone is welcomed to patron.

But what happened on June 1st is no doubt another example of the elderly being taken advantage of in South Florida.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, when Ms. Pinkie went to retrieve another soda for a young man -- described as a slender male in his late teens or early twenties and around five feet eight inches -- he entered her home, pushed her against her fridge, and demanded she give him all her cash.

Not even the poor woman’s compliance was enough for him to leave. After attempts to alert her niece next door, he held her at gunpoint with her own weapon and threatened to rape her.

Pinkie’s niece arrived just in time to spot the man taking off on foot, but not soon enough to get a good look at his face or save her aunt from the unthinkable.

Grandma Pinkie was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital South where she was treated for minor injuries.

If you recognize the man in this composite sketch, please contact BSO Robbery Detective Fred Anderson at 954-321-4270 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
