The Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed an 11-year-old autistic boy who went missing in Pompano Beach Wednesday has been found safe.
Malik Sands was reported missing around 3:20 p.m. from his home at 3030 Northwest 6th Court, BSO officials said.
Just before 8 p.m., officials said Sands was found and that he would be reunited with his family.
BSO said the 11-year-old, who had a non-motorized scooter, was found on the 300 block of W. Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach.
Sands' mother told NBC 6 her daughter was home with the 11-year-old when she noticed he was not his room.
Authorities said a helicopter and bloodhound unit were used in the search.
