Burglar Hit 2 Miami Homes in Broad Daylight: Police

Police are searching for a suspect who was caught on camera burglarizing two Miami homes in broad daylight.

The first burglary happened around noon on June 3 at a home in the 800 block of Northwest 18th Place, Miami Police officials said Wednesday.

Surveillance footage showed the man jumping over a wood fence and covering up one of the surveillance cameras. He also uses a trash bag to hide his face while he moves another camera out of position.

Later in the video the suspect is seen prying open security iron bars. He left the house with a bag of items and fled the scene in a grey or silver SUV, possibly a Mazda, police said.

The second burglary happened between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 29 at a home in the 3600 block of Southwest 5th Terrace Rear. Footage from that burglary showed the man knocking on the door before burglarizing the home. The burglar was able to walk away with more than $1,000 worth of jewelry and cash.

Police described the suspect as a white male with a slim build, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, weighing between 160-180 pounds and believed to be between 45 and 65 years old.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
