Car Crashes Into Lauderhill Gas Station and Bursts Into Flames

An 18-wheeler struck a vehicle, which then rammed into a Lauderhill gas station – bursting into flames.

The incident occurred on Monday at a Chevron gas station on State Road 7 and NW 16th Street. Lauderhill officials said the driver who was struck by the 18-wheeler may have overcorrected by making a sharp right turn and may have pushed on the gas pedal instead of the brake after the collision.

A mother and daughter were in the four-door Toyota that crashed into the gas station, which created a chaotic scene as a fire ensued.

No injuries were reported. The gas station sustained thousands of dollars worth of damage and two other vehicles were damaged in the incident.

Arif Arahman, the gas station clerk, said he had to act quickly once he saw the flames.

"I just shut off the main gasoline – everything – because, you know, otherwise, you never know what can happen!" Arahman said.
