Truck Slams Into Coral Springs Home

Authorities are investigating after a truck slammed into a Coral Springs home early Tuesday while a family slept inside.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 11000 block of Northwest 39th Street when front door neighbor Jean Prosper's brakes failed as he was backing out of his driveway.

The pickup truck went straight towards the home, just missing a car that was parked in the driveway, and barrelled through a front wall.

Sonia Lee, a pastor at the Art of Compassion Ministry, and her two adult children were inside the home at the time of the crash. Lee said she's "blessed" that her and her family made it out alive.

"I just heard a loud bang and the whole place was all dust," she said. "I thought it was an earthquake, not a truck that came inside the room."

Her daughter, who is pregnant, said the first thing she thought of was her mom.

"Losing my mom, that was all I could think of, because I knew it wasn't in my room or my sister's room," said daughter Kerlande Voltaire.

No injuries were reported, but there was some structural damage to the home. Prosper was given four traffic citations.

Meanwhile, Lee said she may use this experience as inspiration for her next sermon.

"Just know that life is short and every day you have to live as the last day," she said.
