Carjacking Suspect Caught After Chase: Fort Lauderdale Police

A suspect who stole a woman's car was arrested after a brief chase Friday, Fort Lauderdale Police said.

The incident began when the woman was approached by the suspect in the 100 block of South Andrews. He demanded her keys and she handed them over, and he fled in the grey four-door Toyota.

Fort Lauderdale Police spotted the car a short time later and when they tried to stop him, the suspect fled and the pursuit began.

The pursuit ended in the 1100 block of West Broward Boulevard, where the suspect was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Brian Semil. He has been charged with robbery, auto theft, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and other traffic offenses.
