Central Florida Man Finds Class Ring Lost on Beach Nearly 50 Years Ago

What to Know

A man in Central Florida who lost his class ring during a visit to a nearby beach almost 50 years ago will soon be reunited with the important piece of jewelry.

Kenneth Board told NBC affiliate WFLA-TV that he was on a beach near Titusville or Cocoa Beach after his school’s senior prom when he lost the ring.

“Whenever I got home, I figured I’d get everything out of there and the ring wasn’t there. Disappeared on the beach, I guess. That’s the only thing that I can put together,” Board said.

For Board, luck was on his side when a metal detecting service company in the area posted a photo of the Auburndale High School ring on social media and were able to connect it with its owner in less than a day.

“I left a voice message and I got a call, a bewildered call, back from Kenneth saying he just couldn’t believe what he was hearing,” Corinne McClanahan said.
