Child Psychologist Arrested for Child Porn: BSO

A child psychologist from Tennessee was arrested and charged after deputies discovered him advertising and sharing child pornography from a Hollywood hotel room.

Broward Sheriff's Deputies say 51-year-old Richard Pitcock was caught sharing the images through the internet service at a variety of hotels, notably the St. Maurice Hotel at 310 Michigan Street in Hollywood.

Deputies traced the images to the hotel room's IP address and executed a search warrant. Inside the hotel, they found Pitcock's belongings and identification. Once Pitcock arrived back at the hotel, he was interviewed by detectives. Pitcock admitted to detectives that he downloads things from the internet but deletes the "ugly" items.

Forensic teams traced 25 images of child porn to the room's IP address. The images depicted child victims as young as nine, according to deputies.

Pitcock was arrested and charged with 25 counts related to child pornography. A judge ordered him held on $5,000 bond for each count. It is not known whether Pitcock has hired an attorney, although police records indicate that he requested one.

According to information from Psychology Today, Pitcock is a senior psychological examiner and licensed school psychologist who operates out of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Pitcock also works for the Cheatham County School District in Tennessee. School district officials released a statement following the arrest, saying:

"The Cheatham County School District’s top priority is the safety and well-being of its students. We take allegations of illegal activity very seriously, and we are taking the appropriate steps to ensure our students are protected. We will be cooperating with law enforcement throughout the investigation."

BSO says Pitcock has no ties to Broward County and was visiting from Ashland City, Tennessee.
