Cristián de la Fuente has had a long and fruitful career, but the 39-year-old counts his family as his biggest achievement. This is why it's so important to de la Fuente to participate in the the 6th Annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. He understands how an entire family can be affected when a child becomes ill, putting himself in their shoes as a father of an 7-year-old girl.
"My family and I have always been involved with organizations that have to do with children," de la Fuente said. "I look at my daughter Laura, and God forbid anything happened to her, I would be devastated. So it's important for me to do something to help the families and the kids of St. Jude Hospital even if it's just with a little thing like participating in a triathlon to raise money.
All kids deserve to be happy and healthy; to grow up just like my daughter. "
The race has succesfully raised more than one million dollars to date for the organization started by Danny Thomas that works to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

Race Day this year will take place on Sunday, April 7th from 5:30am to noon at Miami's Lummus Park, located at 501 Ocean Drive. Also lending their star power alongside de la Fuente are Colin Egglesfield, James Marsden, Josh Hopkins, Geoff Stults, Jason Kennedy, and Greg Ellis.
"This is going to be my 6th triathlon, but I only do the relay; I cheat a little bit! I'm not doing the whole thing but I am hoping that I do better this year than I did last year."
