City of Miami Beach Issues Traffic Advisory for Sunday's Miami Marathon

The City of Miami Beach has issued a traffic advisory for Sunday, Jan. 28 as the city prepares for the 16th annual Miami Marathon and Half Marathon.

More than 22,000 people are expected to participate in the event, which starts in downtown Miami and ends on the Venetian Causeway. The Miami Beach Police Department will be helping to monitor traffic and reduce overall traffic impact, according to a news release.

Officials advise commuters entering or exiting Miami Beach Sunday morning (6 a.m. – 10 a.m.) to use the Julia Tuttle Causeway as an alternative. Advisories have been issued for the downtown/Brickell area, the MacArthur Causeway, Miami Beach, the Venetian Causeway, Coconut Grove and the Rickenbacker Causeway. See advisory times below:

Downtown/Brickell: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

MacArthur Causeway: 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Miami Beach area: 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Venetian Causeway: 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Coconut Grove area: 6:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Rickenbacker Causeway Area: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registration for the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon – sponsored by FitBit – is still open. Registration for the Miami Marathon costs $165 (not including processing fees) and $150 for the Half Marathon (not including processing fees.)
