Co-Founder of Ultra Music Festival, Alex Omes, Dies at 43

Miami nightlife icon and co-founder of Ultra Music Festival, Alejandro Omes has died at 43.

Omes died Monday in his home around 10:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office. 

A cause of death is unknown at this time.

Omes helped create Miami's Ultra Music Festival in 1999 with his former business partner Russell Faibisch, according to Miami New Times.

Ultra Music Festival officials released a statement to NBC 6 on Tuesday saying:

"The organizers of Ultra Music Festival extend their deepest condolences to the family of Alex Omes and are saddened by the news of his passing. We will continue to remember and celebrate Alex for his love, passion and contributions to the Electronic Dance Music community."
